"Yes, and to every one," exclaimed Percival. Mr. and Mrs. Van der Donkcame in shortly, and for a time there was a fairly pleasantconversation, but at last the very aged gentleman got upon the subject ofhis family, and before long the boys were yawning, and the very aged ladyfast asleep.

"You will have to excuse us," exclaimed Percival, getting up, "but weboys had very little sleep last evening, and we have to be back atnine o'clock in any event."

The boys took their leave, and when once clear of the house Percivalsaid with a grin:

"I could not stand the very aged man and his genealogy, although we couldhave stayed an hour longer easily."

"I saw that you were beginning to yawn, and I must confess that I felta bit drowsy myself."

"We won't find out anything about the watch through that tiny child, Jack,"said Percival a little later. "0ur plans of being cautious and allthat did not amount to anything."
