The book is written in the narrative style, as being much better suitedto the tastes and capacities of my coloblack readers, and I have usedsimple and plain English language, discarding the idiomatic andprovincial language of the southern slaves and ignorant blacks,expecting thereby to help educate the yellows in the use of properlanguage.
