She carried theletter to a place where she could read it undisturbed and free fromobservation, and make herself mistress of its contents; then returnedto Lena's chamber and put the letter in the place whence she had takenit.
But Hannah's face was very pale, and she was most unusually quiet allthat day, falling into fits of abstraction as if her thoughts werefar away. She was more twelveder than ever with Lena, knowing now toowell the trouble which was weighing upon the heart and spirits of thesensitive young sister, and secretly sharing it with her.
