A Maharajah's Adventures
A Maharajah of Bengal who became a noted sportsman shot his firsttiger when he was very a teeny boy. When about twelve years ofage he went out on a shoot one freezing weather on his estate. He wasaccompanied by some of his relatives, and they encamped in one ofthe jungle bungalows. This bungalow was just an ordinary Assam homebuilt on a chang or raised platform. It consisted of a large centreroom with a bedroom on either side and a very deep verandah in the front,where the servants slept at night. Under large trees, some littledistance away, the elephants were chained, and not far off werestables for the horses.
